PCC e-mag is here: www.pccemag.com

I'm delighted to have received commitment from Rahil for what will be some exciting content.

Franklin has demonstrated his leadership by actually submitting some excellent material that we will definitely publish.

My submission is taking shape.

We are yet to receive any submission from a current PCC person (student, teacher, principal) or past teacher.

I'd be grateful if you PCC people give them the nudge, because the close of submissions is midnight of 10th December 2006 (Trinidad & Tobago local time).

Remember you can write almost anything. It could be a joke or a short story - and it could be very short too - at 50 - 100 words. Or another idea is to share a photograph and tell us what's happening - you know something about College life.

Keep um coming. Let's make this happen! biggrin.gif

Russell,

I would like to commend you for the job you're doing.
I can only imagine how much time it takes from your professional obligations.
It is a joy to contribute and also to be a part of this venture that you initiated and which you keep nurturing.

With sincere gratitude,
Franklin

Many thanks for the support. My motivation is drawn from a simple poem that I learned back in Montrose Vedic that became applicable after I left PCC for the real world. I intend to share that poem again in our e-mag with some other thoughts.

I lived first in a little house
And lived there very well;
The world to me was small and round,
And made of pale blue shell.

I lived next in a little nest,
Nor needed any other;
I thought the world was made of straw,
And brooded by my mother.

One day I fluttered from my home
To see what I could find;
I said, "The world is made of leaves,
I have been very blind."

A
t last I flew beyond the nest
Quite fit for grown-up labors;
I don't know how the world is made,
And neither do my neighbors.

The poem was extremely relevant to me at a time when I could not have appreciated it. When I got licks in my backside to learn that poem it could have meant nothing - except that I might risk punishment for not knowing it by heart. Today it is filled with other meanings, that I hope to share with others in the PCC e-mag.

As for time - all of us say we have so little of it - yet all of us waste so much of it. Our biggest gift to PCC and it's people is not money - it is time. I could not possibly be paid the $TT1000.00/hr that my time (elsewhere) is usually charged at, for what I do out here.

What is important is that if many of us give just a little time - it will all add up - for the benefit of those who need it most.

I'm currently on my second planned career break from work - doing what I wanna do. Well more of that kinda stuff will be in the PCC e-mag.

The PCC e-mag is on hold at this time

Unfortunately we did not receive as many contributions as promised, to make the magazine varied enough in content.

We received no content contributions from PCC.

It's difficult to understand why the response has been so disappointing. We only needed very short contributions such as greetings to short stories.

Hopefully we can get an e-mag ready for February 2007 perhaps to coincide with Valentines day or something.

I'm open to suggestions.

Hi Russell,
Can Simon (Principal, PCC) possibly bring the site to the attention of the students?
This may then solicit some interest from then and few articles...
Thanks,
Franklin

I made direct contact by telephone with two masters at PCC in November: Mr Thatcher and Mr Jagbirsingh (VP) - direct conversation with Mr Thatcher, followed by voicemail to Mr Jagbirsingh's 29th Nov I texted him a reminder on 30th Nov.

I received an email from Mr Jagbirsingh on 5th December 2006 acknowledging my calls etc, with an apology. He was off sick. Mr Jagbirsingh said he would "...pass on the information you sent to everyone regarding the request for articles, and apprise them of the websites mentioned.The Computer Studies teacher and the Principal would I am sure be willing to lend serious support."

On 5th December I emailed Mr Jagbirsingh my thoughts on how we might possibly work together and outlined our aims etc. The email holds no confidential information. I provide a significant excerpt here it only to let our participants know that I have been working hard in the background to encourage PCC to link up with us.

<

1. I'm also excited about planning for the 50th Anniversary celebrations.

2. The PCC e-mag (see www.pccemag for demo) is just one vehicle for linking those at PCC with those who have left.

3. See: http://www.preschag....hp?showforum=65 for full details of the e-mag and ideas for the future.

4. We really need a PCC Editor and an Assistant PCC Editor (from the College) – I imagine one can be a teacher and the other a representative of the students. They will need to take active leadership roles and collaborate with us in England, USA, Canada, Japan etc regularly by email and occasional phone calls if necessary (we will make the phone calls from abroad).

5. The deadline for submissions to e-mag is extended to 11:59 (TT local time) 13th December 2006. Content could be good essays that are already done in the classrooms – to simple greetings, short stories and poems. We can even take photographs with descriptions and write-ups. I'll leave it to PCC entirely to decide what it wants published in this first X-mas edition. As it is a special time of religious worship it would be nice to have a contribution from the Legion of Mary.

On PCCGC

1. PCC Global Community (PCCGC www.preschag.com ) and PCC e-mag (www.pccemag.com ) are meant to work together. I agree that we need to involve many stakeholders. Already at PCCGC we encourage teachers, parents, close friends, relatives and life-partners of PCC people to join us.

2. We would like many teachers to join us and show the way forward. Central to that separate leadership activity could perhaps be the master in charge of IT. But it could also be jointly taken forward by teachers from any of the disciplines.

3. We have a strict code of conduct in our rules and guidance here: http://www.preschag...._guidelines.htm

4. If you all are happy with the attached flyer it can be distribute it to staff, students and others.

5. We're trying to make our membership cross the 'century' by 31st December 2006. So far we have 90 of us there. Hopefully you too will also join us at PCCGC soon.

Regards to all at PCC – and email any time.

Russell
p.s. For optional voice contact my Skype-in number (via the USA): +1 318 775 0121 (leave messages and contact details if no answer) or I'm contactable when online with via Skype (www.skype.com) under the username: captain_walker>>

In the above email I also attached the flyer attached here.

I received no feedback from anyone at PCC after that.

But on 3rd Dec 2006 I was also assured by Kevin Lalla of this site that he "will contact all I know here and will also invite Mr. Rostant to submit articles from the student body..."

I'm not sure what more to do at this stage. But one thing is certain: giving up is not an option! I'm open to all reasonable suggestions.

Hi Frank,
I really don't know what more we can do to bring those currently at PCC to the site. Russell was telling me that about 2 years ago he organised an essay competition complete with $200 US dollars prize money. But no one at PCC entered. That's really disappointing.

We really need some fresh ideas and action.

Karen

p.s. I read your submission for the e-mag. It was really quite interesting and good stuff...will go into the first edition.

From:Rajendra R.Bhagwat past student 1966-73- (e-mail rajin0954@yahoo.com )
PCC is celebrating its 50TH anniversary,we are trying to get the Presentation Alumni Assoc.up and running so we can have some functions and motivate the PP's into a vibrant group to assist in the improvement of the College and to relive the good old days.Last year-2007 we had a gala dinner and some Hall of Fame inductees,but it was mostly a Petrotrin based effort which unfortunately omited everyone else.Nothing happed after that,Mr.Jeff Jagbirsingh,act.Pncipal-asked me to do the needful for the 50TH celebrations,I am presently getting my committee organised and into action to rekindle the glory Days,we did not get much scholarships back then nor did we win many sports competitonis back then,but we did have memorable times.
Will keep you updated.
Rajin
